PRODUCTION COORDINATOR JOB OPPORTUNITY
Dynamic Captioning provides closed captioning of live television news and sporting events for local and national television networks and cable broadcast companies.
Production Coordinators are responsible for on-air continuity of closed captioning of live (real time) television programming. Real Time Production Coordinators provide support to clients and remote caption writers to insure our service obligations, goals and program procedures are met and provide overall assistance as it relates to program coverage, preparation and transmission of live-display captions and future projects. Coordinator will schedule and monitor live captioned broadcasts of English and Spanish television events from the Dynamic Captioning Monitor Center
TITLE: Production Coordinator
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI
DEPARTMENT: Realtime Captioning Production
HOURS: 2nd shift (4:00 PM- 12:00 AM), Alternating Weekdays
STATUS: Full Time Opportunity with Part Time possibilities
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Realtime Production Manager. The Coordinator will assist in scheduling, monitoring and reporting of “live” closed captioning events including sporting events, newscasts, emergency weather broadcasts and others.
GENERAL CRITERIA: Ability to perform under deadlines is essential. Excellent time management and interpersonal skills are required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidate must possess the ability to multi-task under pressure, acquire new skills quickly and be able to communicate effectively with other technical and non-technical personnel in a stressful environment with the ability to stay calm and cool under pressure. All coordinators must have the ability and flexibility to work nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays and overtime and as necessary to meet program coverage commitments. Coordinator will be in direct communication with large and small broadcast companies, including television producers, production teams, master control centers. Coordinator will be responsible for taking orders, scheduling events, monitoring programming and troubleshooting on-air issues when necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good customer service and telephone skills are a must, including appropriate grammar and email etiquette. Experience with Excel, MS Word, and Windows required. Familiarity with Google communication platform preferred. Coordinator will be required to master industry specific software and captioning hardware as it relates to the position. General knowledge of television master control centers is helpful.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience in a retail customer service position is a plus. BA in Broadcast Communications, or any television related field preferred, but is not required.
